That time I played an in-store at Apple with Allison Weiss and Bess Rogers, and changed every “fuck” in “Fuck Was I” to the name of a Mac product.
Yesterday, we played against the Leeds Whip Its in Huddersfield which happens to be where I saw my first ever roller derby bout 3 years ago. It was definitely the toughest, closest, most exciting game we’ve played to date. Leeds were in the lead at half time with 123 to 56 but in the second half we clawed back points until the very last jam where Leeds were still in the lead by a point and we scored our 3 points to win the game 170 - 168! It was so close and we did not expect to win this game. There were tears, we are so proud.
So much has happened in roller derby for me this past year and I’ve accomplished a lot. Looking back at the goals I set last year, I have met most of them and I’m proud of that. I need to keep at it and keep progressing. Finding the motivation can be difficult, at least it has been recently but the starting point is to write down my goals.
So here are the things I want to work and improve on over the next 6 months:
I’m excited and ready to give 100% at roller derby practice today. Every now and again I find I’m not improving much but then I remember it’s all in my hands. I will get out from it the hard work I put in. An obvious one, but easy to forget. I’m going to draw up some new roller derby goals. I did a lot better than expected with the goals I set last year.
